Family-owned since 1912. Founded by Arturo Fuente Sr., now led by 'Carlito' Fuente Jr. Operates Château Fuente farm — the first Dominican wrapper used in a premium cigar (Opus X, 1995).

Opus X: first Dominican wrapper cigar

Carlito Fuente Jr. releases Opus X — the first premium cigar ever made with Dominican Republic wrapper leaf. The Fuente family spent years cultivating the Château Fuente farm soil to grow viable wrapper. The cigar world is transformed. Opus X becomes one of the most coveted cigars ever made.

1980

Factory fire destroys the Tampa facility

A devastating fire burns down the Tampa factory. Carlito Fuente Sr. refuses to give up, rebuilding the business in the Dominican Republic. This crisis ultimately leads to the family's greatest era.

1912

Arturo Fuente Sr. founds the company in Tampa

Arturo Fuente Sr. starts rolling cigars in Tampa, Florida — then one of the world's great cigar-making cities. The company survives two factory fires and the decline of Tampa's cigar industry to become the most decorated independent cigar brand in the world.
